Utah is the 1st State to Have an Official Firearm
Citizens of the state of Utah can now make a claim that no other state can-they are the only state in the union to have an official firearm. The John M. Browning– designing M1911 pistol is now the official firearm of Utah. The pistol is celebrating it 100th anniversary this year and the ‘M’ stands for military, which began issuing the gun in 1911. Of course, the creation of a state firearm did not come without some controversy. Critics argue that the timing is bad, in the wake of January’s mass shootings in Tuscon, Arizona, that killed 6 people and wounded 13 others, including U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords. Others say the new state symbols condones gun violence. What do you think?
