Peyton Agrees to 5 Year Deal
What do you give a 4 time NFL MVP who has a Super Bowl ring and is without question one of the greatest quarterbacks of his generation? If you’re Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay, you give him whatever he wants. Irsay granted Peyton Manning’s wish not to become the NFL’s first $20 million player and Manning agreed to a five year deals worth $90 Million, equal to the contract New England QB Tom Brady received. Manning told the Indianapolis Star, “While I appreciate Jim Irsay offering to make me the highest-paid player. I told him I’d rather he save that money and keep whoever it is … Joe Addai, Charlie Johnson … whoever that may be. I’m willing to take less than they’ve offered if they are going to take that money to keep players we need to keep and go get other players. All I want is for them to have the cap and the cash to keep the players they want to keep and to sign other players.” Click the pic to enlarge.
Manning is currently rehabbing from offseason neck surgery and hopes to be ready in time for the Colts regular season opener, which would be his 209th consecutive start, tops among active players. Do you think Manning’s deal should have been longer, shorter, more or less?
