NFL Players Union Decertifies
The NFL labor talks between the players and owners broke down today, a few hours before the latest contract extension expired. The union decertified, and star players including Tom Brady, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning sued the league, putting the most popular sport in America on the path to its first work stoppage since 1987. By dissolving and no longer representing the players in collective bargaining, the NFL Players Association cleared the way for class action lawsuits against the NFL. This could lead to a lengthy court fight and could threaten the 2011 season.
