Heroes in a Halfshell
One of the most popular mainstream cartoons of the 1980s was Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. TMNT, which started off as a parody comic book series, was about four turtles who were exposed to an ooze that transformed them into human sized superheroes. The TMNT phenomenon proliferated to other media, as the Turtles made their way to television in the form of an animated series and later several feature length movies. The turtles were named after four of the most famous painters from the Renaissance era, Leonardo (da Vinci), Michelangelo (Buonarroti), Donatello (di Niccolò di Betto Bardi) and Raphael (Sanzio da Urbino).Click the image to enlarge.
A new CGI animated TMNT is planned for next year as well as a new movie. Who was your favorite Turtle?
